Dave Soper by Jerry Earnest

I started to work at Melear's BBQ at the age of 12 for $4 a day, if I started at noon or $2 if I went after school at 5. I worked there to the age of 16. I can only start to tell you the stories of those 4 years later.

Anyway I went to work for Alfords Groc at the age of 16 and I loved it and everybody there. Mr Alford was such a nice man, but it was losing money and he had to close it. So--- I went next door to work for Dave Soper.

This man was a gem!! He never refused to work on anything whether he knew about it or not. He refused to let anyone know he didnt know how to fix anything!!

Harry Redwine would walk in and say "Who's TV is that, where do they live, where do they work, how much money do they make, etc." Dave would curse and say, "Harry quite being so nosey!"

Anyway, that was my Senior year and I learned alot from Dave, Harry and all the Coke Pullin People. Oh yea, they had this thing where you threw dice for the first to pull the coke bottle. The one who was the longest distant had to give the winner a Quarter and I never had much luck, but hardly anyone drank the coke and we sold them over and over
